The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is launching the ‘CISF Vande Mataram Coastal Cyclothon 2026’ on January 28. This 25-day event will cover 6,500 kilometers along India’s coastlines, promoting maritime security and celebrating the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’. Engaging coastal communities, it aims for a ‘Secure Coast, Prosperous India’.
Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the growing complexity of maritime threats, driven by advanced technology and geopolitical shifts, at the Indian Coast Guard Commanders Conference. Emphasizing challenges like GPS spoofing and illegal immigration, Singh urged technological adoption and greater geopolitical awareness to secure India’s extensive coastline and strategic islands.
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has inaugurated a strategic bridge in Vizhinjam Harbor, Kerala, aimed at bolstering coastal security. ICG General Director Paramesh Sivamani emphasized its significance for enhancing response times in monitoring, fishing protection, and anti-smuggling operations, reinforcing the region’s maritime safety and operational readiness.
