Cargo Ship Freed Near Puntland as Pirates Release 17 Hostages
On September 11, Somali pirates released the cargo vessel Sward and its 17 crew members after holding them for 138 days. The pirates received a ransom, with amounts reported between $200,000 and $2.7 million. The crew, primarily Syrian nationals, remained on board and were reported in good health.
