Fincantieri and Viking have strengthened their partnership by signing contracts for two new cruise ships, totaling 28 vessels. Scheduled for delivery in 2032, the ships will cater to the small cruise market, featuring 998 passenger cabins. This agreement ensures production continuity at Fincantieri’s Ancona yard and supports regional employment.
The European cruise market is booming, with shipbuilders like Fincantieri and Meyer Werft securing long-term contracts. Approximately 75% of European shipyards’ orders involve cruise vessels. Innovative designs prioritize fuel flexibility and environmental technologies, while strategic investments enhance productivity, ensuring European yards remain competitive against global rivals. National interests increasingly shape this sector.
