Sri Lanka Captures Oil Polluting Tanker Through Satellite Monitoring
The Marine Environment Protection Authority of Sri Lanka has successfully detected an unauthorized oil release using a new satellite surveillance system funded by France. The system detected a large oil slick coming from the Global Crest crude oil tanker, leading to the ship being detained and fined nearly $50,000.
