The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) celebrates 75 years of service to India’s maritime sector, promoting safety and governance. To commemorate this milestone, a special logo featuring ’75’, DGS’s emblem, and a wave motif has been unveiled, symbolizing excellence and the extensive maritime domain overseen by the DGS.
Kamarajar Port (KPL), located near Chennai, celebrates 25 years since its inception in 1999. With a current cargo capacity of around 57.5 MTPA, the port aims to expand to 254.5 MTPA by 2047. Specializing in energy cargo, container cargo, and bulk commodities, KPL is on track to become a mega port.
The global maritime community gathered in Barcelona to address challenges in the shipping industry, focusing on safety measures for seafarers amidst technological changes. Discussions included decarbonization, new technologies, and the importance of seafarer training. The event highlighted regulatory developments and announced the UAE as the host of the next World Maritime Day.
