SMPK plans to enhance its independent capabilities while expressing openness to future collaborations, reflecting a significant change in the sector’s dynamics.
Odfjell SE and Japan’s Nissen Kaiun Co., Ltd. have launched a joint venture, Odfjell Hakata Maritime AS, in Bergen. This partnership enhances their collaboration in the chemical tanker market, operating ten stainless-steel tankers. Odfjell CEO Harald Fotland emphasized its commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability, aiming for increased trading capacity by 2026.
Navigator Gas has partnered with Amon Maritime to create Navigator Amon Shipping, focusing on two ammonia-fuelled gas carriers. Navigator will hold an 80% stake. The vessels, with a capacity of 51,530m³, will also transport liquefied petroleum gas, emphasizing sustainable energy solutions in alignment with net-zero goals.
At a recent board meeting, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) approved a mediation plan to address a dispute with Boskalis Smit India LLP and Jan de Nul-Baggering India PVT LTD concerning a 2019 dredging project. The Mumbai Center for International Arbitration will oversee this mediation. Total claims have escalated to around £800 million.
Mandovi Drydocks and Ripley Stevedoring have joined forces to establish a shipbuilding and repair facility at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port. With an initial investment of Rs 200 crore, the joint venture will focus on building 6,000-8,000-ton ships, expanding to larger vessels in the future.
