Latvians Debut Revolutionary 5G Maritime Connectivity

Latvian mobile innovator LMT and LVR Fleet demonstrated a 5G maritime connectivity concept at the Port of Riga. The event showcased seamless network connectivity from shore to ship, between ships, and ships to drones. The 5G multi-hop principle enabled communication between vessels, with a pilot boat providing stable network connectivity to an icebreaker ship and a floating drone transmitting seabed measurements. President Juris Binde highlighted the potential of 5G in addressing communication challenges at sea.
