The V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has made history by becoming India’s first Major Port to receive the IGBC Platinum Rating, awarded for its commitment to sustainability. The Administration Building features rooftop solar panels, IoT water meters, and energy-efficient designs, successfully reducing water usage and promoting renewable energy sources while ensuring occupant health and safety.
The Rajya Sabha has officially recognized the Galathea Bay port in Great Nicobar as a major port, developed over four phases at a cost of ₹43,796 crore. With a capacity for 16 million TEUs, this project is part of a broader initiative valued at ₹81,800 crore, including an international airport and power plant.
