On October 6, two merchant vessels were attacked by drones in Bulgaria’s Black Sea exclusive economic zone, leading to the sinking of the Togo-flagged cargo ship ALFA WATAN. The incident prompted a search and rescue mission for the missing crew, while the Palau-flagged ABLE caught fire but all crew were evacuated.
A significant incident involving the Greek-managed dry bulk carrier ‘Minoan Pioneer’ occurred near Oman in the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile, possibly a drone, igniting a fire that forced the crew to evacuate. One crew member is missing, and investigations are ongoing.
