Singapore’s Port Authority Expanding Tuas Port to Meet Growing Demand

The Port Authority of Singapore is expanding with three new berths in Tuas to handle the growing number of container ship calls, in addition to the existing eight berths. By 2040, all port activities will be consolidated in Tuas, aiming for an annual throughput of 65 million TEU. Container ship calls have already increased by 13% in the first half of 2024.

Singapore reported a record high in bunker sales last year

Last year, Singapore’s bunker sales reached an all-time high

In 2023, sales of biofuels and LNG rose to 51.82 million tonnes, exceeding the previous record of 50.6 million tons. Container throughput also reached a record high of 39.01 million 20-foot equivalent units (TEU), while ship arrival tonnage exceeded 3 billion gross tonnage (GT) for the first time. Biofuel blend bunker sales reached 520,000 tonnes, and LNG bunker sales rose to 110,000 tonnes.
