The UK is advancing emission capture technologies at ports with a £1.1 million grant for a project combining STAX Engineering’s systems and Seabound’s carbon capture technology. Launching at the Port of Southampton, this initiative aims to capture CO2 and pollutants from docked vessels, enhancing maritime decarbonization without retrofitting ships.
Maritime UK Solent will participate in the Seawork exhibition from June 10 to 12, connecting young people with maritime careers. The event features over 400 exhibitors and 70 vessels. The Southampton Crown Court in the UK recently handed down sentences to the master of a North Sea cargo ship and the company operating the vessel for their roles in a fatal accident in 2021. The master admitted to failing to operate the ship safely, while the company was found guilty of operating its ships unsafely.
