A rare incident occurred at Singapore’s Tuas port on Sunday when a quay crane collapsed during delivery at 1:20 PM. Fortunately, the quayside was not operational, resulting in no injuries. The Maritime and Ports Authority reported no damage to nearby facilities, and port operations remain unaffected as investigations begin.

Singtel and Ericsson are collaborating to provide advanced 5G solutions at Tuas Port in Singapore, aiming to create the world’s largest automated port by the 2040s. Upgrading AGVs to 5G, enhancing shipment tracking, and streamlining crane operations will boost efficiency. Singtel’s 5G network slicing and private networks will ensure seamless and secure connectivity.
The Port Authority of Singapore is expanding with three new berths in Tuas to handle the growing number of container ship calls, in addition to the existing eight berths. By 2040, all port activities will be consolidated in Tuas, aiming for an annual throughput of 65 million TEU. Container ship calls have already increased by 13% in the first half of 2024.
