India will host a major international workshop on maritime security this Friday, focusing on protecting undersea communication cables vital for global connectivity. Seventy participants from India, the EU, and Indian Ocean nations will discuss risks, best practices, and technological solutions to boost the security and resilience of these critical submarine infrastructures.
On November 28, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority hosted a workshop on dock safety and hazardous chemical handling at the JNPA Business Facilitation Centre. Collaborating with the Ministry of Labour and DGFASLI, the event gathered port officials and safety experts to enhance operational safety and review regulatory frameworks for hazardous cargo management.
The workshop highlighted technology and practices for efficient ship repair and building, emphasizing the need for workforce capacity and talent development. Secretary Shri TK Ramchandran, IAS emphasized government commitment to growth. The workshop promoted industry collaboration and discussed the goals set in Maritime India Vision 2030. Discussion topics included infrastructure, green initiatives, and training models.
