Critical Gaps Found in Canada’s Maritime Emergency Preparedness

The TSB raised concerns about Canada’s emergency preparedness at sea after investigating the container loss and fire on the ZIM Kingston off Vancouver Island. Lack of guidance on parametric rolling risks, deficiencies in crew training, and insufficient emergency response capabilities were highlighted. Urgent measures are needed to enhance maritime emergency response in Canadian waters.
