Atlas Maritime, led by Leon Patitsas, has recently placed an order for two suezmax tankers from DH Shipbuilding in South Korea. This order was made in collaboration with European Maritime Finance (EMF), a Danish shipping investment firm. The vessels, with a capacity of 157,000 dwt, will be equipped with dual-fuel capability, LNG readiness, and eco-class designation.

The agreement between the parties was finalized on Tuesday aboard Patitsas’ superyacht, Bliss, during the Posidonia event in Athens, Greece. These two tankers mark the 20th and 21st newbuildings ordered by Atlas Maritime and EMF, with 17 of them being placed with DH Shipbuilding. Since November 2019, the companies have ordered a total of 25 vessels valued at over $2 billion.

Named Odin Star and Olympic Star, the new suezmax tankers will be added to the existing production pipeline, which already includes six sister vessels. Additionally, in a separate deal in March, Atlas Maritime ordered three very large ammonia carriers from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South Korea, with deliveries scheduled to be completed by December 2027.
