The Columbia Group has announced the establishment of CSM Norway in Oslo, as part of a wider strategy to expand its presence in Northern Europe. This move comes after a comprehensive audit looking at the next 10 years of growth for the company. CSM Norway will offer a full suite of services, including technical and crew management, to cater to the specific needs of the growing number of clients in Norway. The establishment of CSM Norway is the first step in CSM Northern Europe’s plan to have satellite offices around the northern European hub of Hamburg.

Johann Meyer, the managing director of CSM Germany and Northern Europe, will lead the operations in Norway and northern Europe. The company aims to bring its expertise and services closer to clients in northern Europe by establishing a local presence in areas such as Norway. This move is part of the company’s broader plan to expand its rapidly growing offshore business, CSM Energy, with the main hub for this in Hamburg. The company also plans to expand its market in Norway and northern Germany, offering third-party ship management and associated services in the offshore, recycling, LNG, and renewable energy markets.

The establishment of CSM Norway is part of a larger plan to expand the company’s presence in areas where it can be closer to its growing markets. Group president and chief executive Mark O’Neil emphasized the importance of being at the heart of the areas they serve in order to confidently meet the needs of their clients. The company’s ethos is about forming and maintaining partnerships, and they look forward to working much more closely with their partners in northern Europe.
