The Danish government has unveiled its 2030 plan for the Danish economy, with a focus on maintaining and expanding its position as a leading green country in the maritime sector. The plan emphasizes support for existing and new positions of strength, including shipping, and has been welcomed by Danish Shipping, a trade organization representing over 90 shipping and offshore companies. The organization sees the plan as including many positive measures, such as a focus on developing Danish economic positions of strength, green transition, and removing bottlenecks for global trade.
Danish Shipping’s managing director, Anne H. Steffensen, expressed satisfaction with the government’s commitment to developing and strengthening the maritime industry, stating that Denmark is a huge maritime nation and that the industry looks forward to contributing to the upcoming growth plan for Danish shipping. The government’s 2030 plan also acknowledges the role of Danish shipping in the global green transformation of shipping, in line with the climate strategy of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Steffensen emphasized the urgency of getting regulations in place for climate neutrality in shipping, and highlighted the central role that Denmark and Danish shipping companies play in this effort.
