Cruises unexpectedly canceled for MSC cruise lines

MSC Cruises has announced the cancellation of several cruises planned for April 2023 due to the extended stay in the shipyard MSC sea view on Malta. The company is now working to accommodate affected passengers.

The dry dock time for MSC sea view should only last two weeks. However, that time frame has now more than doubled.

Unexpected delays result in cancellations MSC sea view cruises

MSC cruises had to cancel several cruises in April 2023. The cruise ship arrived in Paolo, Malta on March 31, 2023 after completing its last voyage, which ended in Barcelona two days earlier. The ship was originally scheduled to spend two and a half weeks in dry dock before resuming cruising April 17 in Genoa, Italy.

According to the information, the almost five-year-old ship is facing longer than expected repair times cruise updates. This has resulted in the cancellation of seven cruises, with MSC Cruises guests being informed of the changes to their plans.

Technical and inspection work was planned during the shipyard period in Malta MSC sea view. It’s not clear what the exact problem is that is taking longer, although several online sources mention extensive engine work being done. The cruise ship’s sister ship, MSC coast, had engine problems in July last yearforces the ship into dry dock for repairs.

The canceled cruises include those departing from Genoa on May 17, 24 and 1; Civitavecchia on April 19th and 26th; and Palma de Mallorca on April 21st and 28th.

MSC Cruises is working to accommodate affected customers by offering them alternative options for their travel plans, while also providing them with onboard credit to use towards a future voyage. MSC sea view is now scheduled to resume operations on May 3rd and start from Civitavecchia – two and a half weeks later than originally planned.

MSC sea view: summer in Europe and winter in Brazil

When operations resume, the MSC sea view will spend the 2023 summer season cruising the Western Mediterranean until November 18th. In the winter months, the cruise ship will circumnavigate Brazil.

During the summer, guests can sail on week-long voyages from various ports in the western Mediterranean, including La Spezia, Barcelona, ​​Cannes and Genoa. MSC Cruises offers passengers the flexibility to start and end their cruise at different ports, while the cruise duration is also variable.

From November 18 to December 5, 2023, MSC sea view will be sailing on a 17-day MSC Grand Voyage cruise. The journey begins November 18th in Genoa, Italy before heading to Palma de Mallorca, Cartagena and Malaga, Spain.

After the calls in Spain MSC sea view will visit Casablanca, Morocco and the Canary Islands from where the ship will sail across the Atlantic. In Brazil, the ship will visit Salvador de Bahia and Ilheus and end in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on December 5th.

The 153,516 gross tons MSC sea view is a Seaside class cruise ship built by fincantieri, in Monfalcone, Italy. The 4,132-guest cruise ship, delivered in June 2018, is the sister ship of MSC coast.
