The Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA) and the Public Transport Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their partnership in enhancing maritime services in Dubai. The DMA aims to promote sustainable and secure maritime activities that support the city’s economic growth, while upholding the highest safety standards and green marine practices. The collaboration with RTA will improve marine transport services and enhance customer satisfaction by upgrading licensing services for vessels and crews.
The partnership between DMA and RTA will streamline processes by electronically linking with insurance companies under RTA’s system for licensing maritime transport means and accessing eyesight test data for crews. The DMA, established in 2007, has played a significant role in transforming the local maritime industry by introducing initiatives to attract global leaders and position Dubai as a premier maritime hub. As an independent government body, DMA focuses on regulating, promoting, and developing the maritime sector to enhance infrastructure, operational processes, and investment opportunities.
DMA’s commitment to forging strategic alliances with government bodies and stakeholders in the maritime industry aligns with RTA’s goal of collaborating with relevant authorities to enhance marine transport services. The partnership aims to simplify access to customer data and information on registered marine transport means, ultimately providing a seamless experience for customers and boosting Dubai’s competitiveness in the global maritime business.
