MAN Energy Solutions and Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Posidonia 2024 International Shipping Exhibition in Greece to develop crew training for handling ammonia as fuel on vessels. The MoU, signed by Cyril Ducau, CEO of EPS, and Bjarne Foldager, Country Manager for MAN Energy Solutions, will facilitate training on the safe handling of ammonia for dual-fuel engines and the development of training materials for transporting alternative fuels like ammonia.
Ducau emphasized the importance of the partnership with MAN Energy Solutions in leading the industry’s green transformation and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the safe transportation of alternative fuels. The training will enhance crew safety and environmental aspects as the global shipping industry moves towards decarbonization.
EPS is currently working with MAN Energy Solutions to deliver dual-fuel ammonia engines for various vessels. Foldager praised EPS’ seafaring personnel for their adaptability and technical capabilities, highlighting the training program’s focus on innovations and safety measures in ammonia engine design to ensure safe and reliable operation at sea. MAN Energy Solutions commended EPS as a valuable launch partner for their collaboration.
