Governor C V Ananda Bose unveiled the book ‘Horizons’ in Kolkata, which highlights the city’s rich maritime history and its 150-year-old port. The book marks the 50-year journey of the Association of Shipping Interests in Calcutta (ASIC) and was launched at Raj Bhavan in the presence of Asok Janakiram, president of ASIC, and other representatives. Gautam Chakraborti, former adviser to Kolkata Port, served as the honorary editor-in-chief of the commemorative.
‘Horizons’ provides readers with a detailed look into the maritime world through insightful interviews, articles from prominent figures, and a wealth of information on Kolkata’s maritime history and port. The book also includes messages from dignitaries such as the Prime Minister, Minister of Shipping, and Ministers of State for Shipping. Additionally, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, who began his career as a shipping executive in Calcutta, also contributed to the book.
