GT Green Technologies teams up with Bureau Veritas on wind propulsion.

Classification society Bureau Veritas has granted approval in principle (AiP) for GT Green Technologies’ AirWing wind-based propulsion system. The AiP represents a major milestone for the AirWing20 system, which is being funded by the UK Government’s Department for Transport. The system aims to provide a wind-assisted propulsion solution for the maritime industry. GT Green Technologies, in collaboration with Bureau Veritas and trading partner PEI TECH, plans to deliver the first AirWing20 wind engine for installation on a ship in 2024. An announcement of a partnership with a notable shipowner for the initial installation is expected soon. The company has received financial support through the UK Government’s Transport Research Innovation Grant program. The installation of the first AirWing20 unit and other collaborations will be revealed in the near future.
