A merchant vessel was targeted by a group of vessels, including both manned and unmanned craft, in the southern Red Sea. The ship’s master reported the attack to the UK Maritime Trade Operations body on Monday morning, revealing that the incident took place 70 nautical miles southwest of the Yemeni port of Hodeidah. According to the report, three vessels were involved in the attack, with two being crewed and the third appearing to be unmanned.
This latest attack mirrors previous tactics used by the Houthis, who have targeted ships in the region before. The use of both manned and unmanned craft in the assault highlights the evolving tactics of these groups in the Red Sea. The incident serves as a reminder of the risks faced by vessels operating in the area and the importance of maintaining vigilance and security measures to protect against such attacks.
