Wallem Group Appoints John Rowley as New CEO for Maritime Services

Hong Kong-based maritime services provider, Wallem Group, has appointed John Rowley as its new CEO. Rowley, who is currently the Senior Vice President of the Global Food and Transportation Divisions at NSF International, will take on the role in January 2024. He brings extensive experience in the global maritime industry, having previously served as CEO of SAI Global Assurance and as the Asia Pacific President of Lloyd’s Register Group. Wallem Group Chairman Nigel Hill expressed his excitement about Rowley’s appointment and his track record of accelerating revenue growth. He also thanked outgoing CEO John-Kaare Aune for his leadership and dedication in stabilizing the company’s operations during challenging times.

Aune, who has been with Wallem Group for the past three years, stated that it was a difficult decision to step aside as CEO. However, with operations now normalized after the impact of the pandemic, he felt that the time was right. Aune expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the company’s journey, highlighting the improvements in client service levels, digitalization efforts, and the foundation laid for Wallem’s decarbonization goals. With his successor identified, Aune will be exploring new opportunities.
