Wärtsilä ANCS, a division of Wärtsilä, has introduced the NACOS Platinum Solid State X-Band Radar, a new radar system aimed at enhancing maritime navigation safety and reliability. The radar utilizes solid-state transceiver technology and features a compact housing and gearbox, eliminating the need for traditional magnetrons and ensuring low maintenance and lifespan costs while maintaining performance.
The NACOS Platinum Solid State X-Band Radar offers target detection in all environmental conditions, target tracking with separate signal processing, and adaptive pulse transmission for improved danger recognition. Wärtsilä emphasizes that the radar’s signal processing and filter algorithms provide high-quality target presentation, enabling excellent long-range target recognition without the need for preheating or tuning.
Eberhard Maass, Head of Product Navigation at Wärtsilä ANCS, stated that the NACOS Platinum Solid State X-Band Radar represents a significant advancement in radar technology, offering customers unparalleled levels of safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. This announcement comes as Wärtsilä Gas Solutions reveals plans to provide cargo handling systems for two large Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) carrier vessels being built at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co Ltd. in South Korea.
