Police in Bonaire, a Dutch Caribbean island, are searching for Jessica Collins, a 47-year-old American woman who did not return to her Carnival Cruise ship, the Horizon, after it docked on September 17. According to a government press release, Collins disembarked with her belongings and left a gratuity for her stateroom attendant. However, she later informed a member of Carnival’s Care Team via text that she was safe and wished to remain uncontacted.
Bonaire officials noted that Collins took her identification but left some personal items on the ship. Surveillance footage captured her shortly before leaving, dressed in a Hawaiian shirt, jean shorts, and carrying a large gray backpack. Carnival confirmed that they are cooperating with local authorities in the investigation.
The cruise, which began on September 13 from Miami, accommodates nearly 4,000 guests. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding Collins’s whereabouts to reach out through an anonymous tip line or by calling the local police number. As the situation develops, Carnival has been approached for further comments.
