The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) has formalized a partnership with the Indian Port Rail & Ropeway Corporation Limited (IPRCL) to enhance seafarers’ welfare and maritime infrastructure across India. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Capt. Nitin Mukesh from DG Shipping and Capt. Arvind Kumar from IPRCL, with the presence of Shri Shyam Jagannathan, IAS, who highlighted the initiative’s significance for Indian seafarers.

Under this collaboration, IPRCL will serve as the Project Management Consultant and executing agency, providing comprehensive support that spans feasibility studies to project execution. The agreement outlines a focus on various infrastructure aspects, including civil and electrical works, ensuring compliance with technical and safety standards.
