The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) has clarified the process for migrating seafarer profiles to the newly established e-Samudra portal, assuring the maritime community of a smooth and user-friendly transition. The organization has emphasized that seafarers do not need to update their entire profiles at this time. Instead, it is essential for individuals to verify that their mobile numbers and email addresses are accurate on the existing DG Shipping portal, as these details are necessary for receiving notifications during the migration.
DG Shipping has confirmed that all current seafarer profiles will be automatically transferred to the e-Samudra portal without requiring immediate action from seafarers. This automated procedure aims to minimize confusion and prevent unnecessary modifications to profiles. Following the completion of the migration, seafarers will have the opportunity to update personal information, certificates, and other related records on the e-Samudra platform at a later date.
To combat misinformation, DG Shipping advises seafarers to remain composed, stay informed, and solely rely on official communications from the Directorate. The transition to e-Samudra is designed to enhance operational efficiency, data security, and user experience, representing a significant advancement in India’s maritime administration’s digital transformation. Seafarers are urged to keep their contact details updated to receive timely alerts and important instructions related to their profiles and upcoming services on the new portal.
