Goa’s strategic coastal location and commitment to eco-friendly growth position it as a leader in the nation’s vision of “Blue Growth with Green Responsibility.” Under Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Minister Shri Digambar Kamat, the state unveiled significant plans for port infrastructure investments, green shipping, and advanced maritime technologies.
During the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Sawant highlighted that the theme “Blue Meets Green” encapsulates Goa’s maritime journey, emphasizing sustainable development alongside environmental harmony. Key announcements included the launch of the Goa Maritime Waterways Infrastructure Development Vision Document and several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). Notably, ₹200 crore was allocated for National Waterways projects, and an agreement worth ₹3,500 crore was signed with Atlantic Pacific LNG for an LNG facility at Mormugao Port. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) for facilitating infrastructure development.
Shri Digambar Kamat outlined a comprehensive maritime agenda for Goa, which includes the establishment of the Goa Maritime Board to streamline port management, the development of new cruise terminals, and initiatives to promote shipbuilding with green technologies. The state is also preparing a strategic plan for green fuel transitions and enhancing maritime education through the Goa Institute of Maritime Excellence. Investment in fisheries and marine tourism is also prioritized, aiming to support local fishing communities with modern vessels and eco-friendly initiatives.
Goa’s maritime vision aligns with India’s broader goals, including the Maritime India Vision 2030 and Viksit Bharat 2047. As Dr. Sawant stated, Goa’s maritime narrative is one of transformation, merging tradition with technology for sustainable growth.
