C3iHub at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur recently hosted a two-day training program focused on ‘Maritime Cybersecurity’ for officials from the Indian Ports Association (IPA). The event took place at the IIT-Kanpur Noida Extension Centre and aimed to enhance the cybersecurity skills of participants in the maritime sector.

The training included comprehensive sessions covering various aspects of cybersecurity. Topics discussed included compliance and regulatory requirements, threat profiling on social media, and analysis of the dark web. Participants also engaged in open-source intelligence (OSINT) investigations, suspect profiling, digital forensics, incident response (DFIR), network security assessments, and cloud security.

Notable attendees included Arvind Bhisikar, Executive Director (IT) of the Indian Ports Association; Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT-K; Akhilesh Variar from the IPS National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC), a unit of NTRO; and Tanima Hajra, CEO of C3iHub. Their presence underscored the importance of addressing cybersecurity challenges in the maritime industry.

This training initiative reflects a growing recognition of the need for robust cybersecurity measures in the maritime sector, particularly as digital threats continue to evolve.
