SCILAL and Synergy Marine have joined forces to advance maritime training, capability development, and knowledge sharing, with a strong emphasis on digitalization and sustainability. On April 6, the Shipping Corporation of India Land and Assets (SCILAL) announced a memorandum of understanding with Synergy Marine to enhance maritime capabilities and training, as detailed in a recent statement.
In the initial phase of this collaboration, SCILAL will work with Synergy Marine through its Maritime Training Institute (MTI) in Powai to launch a Diploma in Nautical Studies program. This initiative aims to address key areas such as digitalization, data-driven operations, emerging technologies, decarbonization, and sustainability, while also focusing on future fuels and innovative research.
The partnership is designed to improve training outcomes and develop a workforce that is prepared for the future, aligning with India’s goal of increasing its share of the global seafaring workforce from approximately 12% to over 20% by 2030. BK Tyagi, Chairman and Managing Director of SCILAL, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in achieving national maritime objectives.
Ajay Chaudhry, Co-CEO of Synergy Marine Group, remarked that this engagement signifies a mutual recognition that maritime training must evolve in tandem with industry advancements. Synergy Marine, a global leader in shipping, manages over 700 vessels, providing innovative and sustainable technical ship management solutions.
