A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Friday for the Kalinga Maritime Museum at Paradip Port, a project aimed at enhancing marine heritage preservation in India. P L Haranadh, chairman of the Paradip Port Authority, emphasized the museum’s innovative design, which features a unique fish-shaped structure facing the sea. This orientation is intended to optimize natural wind flow, improving the building’s resilience against coastal weather conditions.
The museum is engineered to withstand Odisha’s extreme climate, withstanding temperatures from 80°C to 450°C and cyclone-level winds of up to 280 km/h. Haranadh highlighted that these features will ensure the safety and integrity of the structure and its exhibits.
This initiative marks a significant milestone for the Paradip Port Authority, reflecting its commitment to maritime heritage and smart port development. The Indian Port Rail & Ropeway Corporation Limited is providing project management for this ambitious project.
Haranadh stated that the Kalinga Maritime Museum will become a vital cultural and educational landmark, celebrating Odisha’s rich maritime history while embodying resilience and innovation.
