The India Maritime Week is set to take place from October 27 to 31 in Mumbai, welcoming nearly 100,000 delegates from over 100 countries. Shipping, Ports and Waterways Secretary T.K. Ramachandran stated that the event will highlight advancements in the maritime sector, including ports and shipping.
The initiative aims to unite global and local leaders to promote dialogue, innovation, and sustainable maritime policies. A significant target is to create investment opportunities worth one lakh crore rupees during the week.
Reflecting on last year’s success, Ramachandran noted that the Chennai Port secured over 30 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) valued at more than 8,000 crore rupees. These agreements focused on business expansions, including a bunkering hub with IOCL and capacity enhancements through dredging.
This year’s event will feature five days of discussions on policy, commerce, and technology at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai. To boost participation, a series of roadshows are being organized across the country to engage regional businesses and trade bodies, encouraging states and industry partners to get involved in the India Maritime Week.
