Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, is set to visit Singapore for three days to participate in the ‘Singapore Maritime Week’. This visit aims to strengthen maritime cooperation between India and Singapore, with scheduled meetings with Singaporean counterparts and top maritime leaders. Discussions will focus on unlocking opportunities in the maritime industry and navigating global maritime trends.
During the Singapore Maritime Week, Sonowal will engage in a high-level dialogue on global maritime trends. He will also meet with senior ministers of the Singaporean government, including Lee Hsien Loong, Murali Pillai, and Dr. Amy Khor. Additionally, a bilateral meeting with Brigit Gijsbers of the Netherlands will further enhance maritime relations between the two countries.
To incorporate best practices from the global maritime industry, Sonowal will interact with industry captains and corporate leaders from various nations. He will also engage with the Indian diaspora and visit the INA Memorial. Accompanied by senior officials, Sonowal’s visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties, explore opportunities, and learn from industry leaders in Singapore.
In related news, India will host the India Maritime Week from October 27-31, showcasing the country’s maritime heritage and development. The event will include the Global Maritime India Summit and Sagarmanthan, attracting delegates from 100 countries. This bi-annual gathering aims to celebrate India’s maritime legacy and foster international collaboration in the maritime sector.
