Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal has launched several technology initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and productivity of the Indian maritime industry. Key among these is the SAGAR SETU platform, along with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) to establish a Digital Centre of Excellence. These initiatives are poised to drive digital transformation and sustainable infrastructure development, according to an official release.

SAGAR SETU aligns with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and integrates various service providers to facilitate seamless export-import (EXIM) services. This platform aims to significantly shorten processing times for vessel and cargo documentation, enabling faster, paperless logistics by connecting over 80 ports and 40 key stakeholders, indicating strong industry support.

Additionally, the DRISHTI framework was introduced to fast-track maritime objectives. This comprehensive monitoring system is intended to accelerate the implementation of Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. Built on pillars of KPI monitoring and organizational oversight, DRISHTI embodies Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “Reform, Perform, Transform, Inform.”
