Visakhapatnam Port Authority Celebrates 62nd National Maritime Day with Honors and Community Engagement

The 62nd National Maritime Day was celebrated by the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) on April 5 to recognize the importance of the maritime sector in global trade and national economic development. The day honored the contributions of seafarers with the prestigious NMD award of excellence, acknowledging their lifetime achievements in the Indian maritime industry. Chairperson M. Angamuthu paid tribute to the sacrifices made by seafarers and emphasized the vital role of the shipping and maritime sectors in the nation’s progress. VPA reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing cargo handling and maritime excellence.

The event also saw the participation of Deputy Chairperson Durgesh Kumar Dubey, DIG Rajesh Mittal from the Indian Coast Guard, and Principal Durga Prasad from HIMT, Visakhapatnam, who paid tributes to the seafarers. To engage the community, essay writing and elocution competitions were organized for school children, with winners being felicitated with prizes. The event was a success with enthusiastic participation from heads of departments, VPA Secretary T Venu Gopal, senior officers, employees, and students.
