On March 28, 2025, the 62nd National Maritime Day celebrations took place in New Delhi, where the Merchant Navy flag was ceremoniously pinned on Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. This prestigious moment was led by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Cabinet Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways.
The event highlighted the importance of maritime services and was attended by key figures in the industry, including Shri T. K. Ramachandran, Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, and Shri Shyam Jagannathan, the Director General of Shipping.
Additionally, Capt. B. K. Tyagi, Chairman and Managing Director of the Shipping Corporation of India, was present, contributing to the discussions on the future of the maritime sector in India. The occasion not only celebrated the achievements of the maritime industry but also emphasized its vital role in the nation’s economy.
