Jana Marine Services has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first company to receive the CR-Ex cyber resilience notation for its Self-Elevating Units: JANA 505, 508, and 509, according to a recent ABS publication. This notable recognition integrates International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) UR E26 Cyber Resilience standards into existing Ex vessels, enhancing their cyber safety protocols. These advancements reflect not just technological progress but also align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which seeks to stimulate economic diversification and promote local innovation.

Gareth Burton, Vice President of Technology at ABS, emphasized the importance of this achievement in raising safety standards in offshore operations. He noted that as vessels become more interconnected, the risk of cyber threats escalates. ABS is committed to developing strategies that safeguard critical marine systems within this digital landscape.

The CR-Ex notation is part of ABS’s updated cybersecurity guidelines tailored for the marine and offshore industries, detailed in CyberSafety® Volume 2.
