Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), based in Limassol, is preparing for the FuelEU Maritime regulation set to take effect in 2025. With a fleet of over 670 vessels and 11 ship management centers worldwide, BSM has integrated innovative digital tools into its emission management services to ensure compliance with the regulation’s complex requirements. The company has already submitted all Monitoring Plans for its vessels to authorized verifiers ahead of the August 31, 2024 deadline, demonstrating its readiness for the new regulations.
To support compliance with the FuelEU Maritime regulation, BSM has introduced two key tools: the FuelEU Dashboard and the FuelEU Simulator, integrated within its PAL ship management software. These tools allow users to visualize real-time data, calculate GHG intensity, monitor compliance balance, and estimate penalties based on reported fuel data. This capability extends from 2025 to 2050, providing reliable forecasts and compliance management for the upcoming years. The FuelEU Simulator serves as a dynamic platform for users to simulate modifications on managed vessels and receive insights on minimizing compliance costs.
In addition to its digital solutions, BSM offers expert guidance on suitable fuels, compliance technologies, and flexible options like pooling to reduce GHG intensity penalties. The system can monitor compliance status of anticipated pools and provide insights into efficient pool management. Users can simulate pools, select vessels, create pools, and continuously monitor compliance balance and penalty exposure. BSM’s proactive approach aims to not only ensure compliance management but also create added value for customers by offering transparent vessel-specific solutions.
