Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore has launched its Gas Center of Excellence in Doha, Qatar, aimed at bolstering support for LNG and gas projects globally. This center consolidates BV’s expertise in gas carrier operations, classification, and regulatory compliance, providing integrated support across the gas value chain. Staffed by specialists with extensive experience, it combines regional insights with BV’s global technical resources to offer high-level assistance to stakeholders in Qatar and the broader Middle East.
The center enhances BV’s established marine presence in the region, where it operates 13 offices and employs around 120 specialists. BV has classified over 1,250 ships in the area, offering marine classification, surveys, and inspections throughout a vessel’s lifecycle. Currently, 50% of the world’s leading energy companies collaborate with BV, which manages a fleet of 344 gas carriers, including 153 LNG vessels.
BV’s involvement in significant LNG projects includes partnerships with major energy firms like QatarEnergy and TotalEnergies, supporting the construction of next-generation LNG carriers. The center also benefits from BV Group’s global testing and certification capabilities, promoting sustainable innovation across the maritime and energy sectors through its Future Shipping Team.
