In light of the recent tragic explosion at the ASL shipyard, one of the organizers has urged the company to temporarily halt operations at its Batam facility. This pause would allow local authorities to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the incident, which resulted in fatalities.
The coalition’s ongoing protests highlight the community’s concerns over workplace safety and the need for stricter regulations. By advocating for accountability, the group seeks to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.
