The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Directorate General of Sea Transportation (DGST) in Indonesia have extended their collaboration on training and developing government officers in the maritime sector. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been renewed for another two years, marking two decades of partnership between the two organizations. This extension highlights the strong ties between Indonesia and Singapore and signifies a significant milestone in their relationship.
Teo Eng Dih, Chief Executive of MPA, emphasized the importance of the partnership, which began in 2005 and has since organized over 120 programs and workshops. These initiatives have contributed to implementing International Maritime Organization conventions that enhance navigational safety and marine environmental protection in the region. The collaboration also aims to equip senior officers with the necessary knowledge to address emerging challenges in the maritime industry.
Captain Antoni Priadi, Director General of Sea Transportation in Indonesia, expressed the continued commitment to cooperation and collaboration between DGST and MPA. The extension of the MoU reflects their dedication to adapting to developments in the maritime sector to ensure the safety of navigation and protection of the marine environment. This ongoing partnership underscores the shared goal of promoting maritime safety and sustainability in the region.
