Miros has extended its partnership with Prysmian to supply wave monitoring systems for the Prysmian Monna Lisa and Prysmian Marco Polo cable laying vessels. These vessels are now equipped with Miros’ WaveSystem and Miros Cloud technology, providing real-time sea state and weather data. This collaboration follows the successful deployment of the same monitoring systems on the Prysmian Leonardo da Vinci vessel in 2021.
Prysmian’s Marco Polo specializes in shallow-water cable laying and burial installation, even in challenging environmental conditions. On the other hand, Monna Lisa, the sister vessel to Leonardo da Vinci, is designed for deeper power cable installations and can operate in waters up to 3,000 meters. By integrating Miros’ advanced wave measurement solutions, the Prysmian Monna Lisa and Prysmian Marco Polo vessels will benefit from improved situational awareness, ensuring safer and more efficient cable-laying operations.
Andrew Wallace, VP of Offshore Solutions at Miros, expressed excitement about the continued collaboration with Prysmian and the extension of their technology to additional vessels in Prysmian’s fleet. The WaveSystem and Miros Cloud technology provide precise and real-time wave monitoring, empowering crews with critical data to optimize decision-making and enhance safety in dynamic offshore environments. Prysmian plans to expand its installation capabilities with eight vessels by 2027, including the advanced Prysmian Alessandro Volta, to meet the growing demand for cable systems and offer comprehensive installation solutions.
Valerio Acquaotta, Marine Installation Director at Prysmian, highlighted the value of Miros’ WaveSystem and Miros Cloud technology in optimizing cable-laying operations. Access to real-time, accurate wave and weather data is crucial for ensuring precision and reducing operational risk. The collaboration between Miros and Prysmian aims to enhance the efficiency and safety of cable laying operations on the Monna Lisa and Marco Polo vessels, as well as future installations with the latest Prysmian Alessandro Volta.
