BEML and DCIL Forge ₹350 Crore Partnership for Maritime Dredging

BEML Limited and Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) have taken a significant step to bolster India’s maritime infrastructure by signing three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) valued at approximately ₹350 crore during India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai. The agreements were formalized by Cmdr R.G.K. Rao (Retd.) from BEML and Capt. S. Divakar from DCIL, in the presence of notable figures including Shantanu Roy and Dr. M. Angamuthu, highlighting the collaboration’s importance within India’s maritime ecosystem.

The partnership focuses on three main areas: the supply of indigenous spares for DCIL’s dredger fleet, the design and construction of five inland cutter suction dredgers to improve inland waterway maintenance, and the development of various dredging equipment to enhance reservoir de-siltation and support inland transport. BEML will spearhead the manufacturing and lifecycle support of the dredgers, while DCIL will oversee their deployment and operations across critical maritime and inland projects throughout the country.

This initiative underscores the commitment of both organizations to advancing the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, promoting domestic manufacturing, and modernizing India’s port and inland waterway infrastructure through local technology and collaboration. These MoUs build on a prior agreement between BEML and DCIL that focused on the indigenous design of dredger spare parts, solidifying their strategic partnership.
