Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS), based in Singapore, has taken delivery of a new environmentally friendly very large gas carrier (VLGC) named Rosablanche from South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). This addition expands EPS’s dual-fuel fleet, enhancing its capabilities for transporting liquefied gases.

The Rosablanche features advanced technologies including the LGGE Business Cargo Handling System (CHS) and a fuel gas supply system (FGSS). The FGSS allows the use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as fuel, and the CHS ensures the secure handling of diverse liquefied gases, both systems working together to improve operational efficiency and reduce emissions. This marks the first collaboration between Babcock and SHI.

In recent months, EPS has consistently increased its dual-fuel gas carrier fleet. Notably, in August 2023, it unveiled its inaugural LPG VLGC, the MV Logan Explorer, built by HD Hyundai Samho. EPS has also announced orders for additional VLGCs, including two 93,000 cbm vessels for delivery in 2026.

Moreover, EPS is venturing into the ethane sector, with plans for six ultra-sized ethane carriers from Jiangnan Shipyard, anticipated to incorporate advanced energy-saving technologies by 2027. Meanwhile, SHI continues to solidify its reputation as a leading gas carrier manufacturer with multiple significant contracts secured recently.
