ExxonMobil is making a significant move into the LNG marine bunkering market with plans to introduce two LNG bunker vessels. This initiative aims to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the maritime sector. The first vessel, chartered from Avenir LNG, is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2027, followed by a second vessel from Evalend Shipping in the fourth quarter of the same year.
In addition to the vessels, ExxonMobil is developing complementary supply solutions to enhance its LNG bunkering capabilities. The company intends to gradually expand its fleet to meet increasing customer demand for cleaner marine fuel options.
This LNG bunkering initiative aligns with ExxonMobil’s broader commitment to invest up to $30 billion in lower-emission solutions from 2025 to 2030, with approximately 65% of that funding aimed at reducing emissions from other companies. Amy Wood, ExxonMobil’s Global Lower Emission Fuel Manager, emphasized the company’s readiness for a multifuel future that addresses society’s energy needs while striving to lower GHG emissions.
