Fugro is enhancing its geotechnical survey operations by implementing electronic logbooks across its fleet. This initiative aims to improve data quality, streamline data collection, and support the company’s digitalisation strategy. By standardising and automating data recording, Fugro seeks to reduce administrative burdens on crew members and optimise vessel procedures.
During trials, the use of electronic logbooks resulted in improved data quality and increased support for crews, allowing them to concentrate more on safety and operational tasks. Julia Korpak, Fugro’s global manager for quality, health, safety, sustainability, and the environment, emphasized that this technology aids in achieving their goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The automated logging system not only saves time but also minimizes errors associated with manual data entry. Following successful trials, ClassNK affiliate Napa will supply these logbooks for distribution throughout Fugro’s fleet, marking a significant step in their digital transformation.
