EUROATLAS, a German leader in advanced defense technologies, has launched the GREYSHARK™ Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs)—the Bravo and Foxtrot models. Designed for underwater intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), these AUVs are integral for assessing subsea infrastructure such as cables and conducting reconnaissance missions. They are equipped with 17 integrated sensors and modular AI software that enhance endurance and range.

Recent rising threats to commercial shipping, particularly in the Red and Baltic Seas, highlight the need for effective ISR to counter hybrid warfare and sabotage. This necessitates vigilant monitoring of critical maritime corridors, particularly as 98% of global data flows through underwater cables essential for communications and trade.

The GREYSHARK™ models feature Level 5 autonomy, allowing for automated, dynamic mission adjustments while minimizing downtime. The Foxtrot variant leverages hydrogen fuel cell technology for extended underwater operations—up to 16 weeks and 11,000 nautical miles. Additionally, their swarm technology enables collaborative operations to enhance surveillance and deterrence capabilities.

CEO Eugene Ciemnyjewski emphasizes the company’s commitment to addressing modern security challenges, with plans to produce 150 units annually by 2026. As geopolitical tensions rise and climate change reshapes maritime routes, the GREYSHARK™ AUVs signify a transformative step in maritime defense strategies essential for safeguarding critical undersea infrastructure.
