Maharashtra’s Minister for Fisheries and Ports, Nitesh Rane, emphasized the state’s commitment to maritime security during a recent inspection of new high-speed patrol boats at Bhaucha Dhakka. He stated that enhancing maritime security is a top priority for the government.

To bolster these efforts, the government has introduced advanced patrol boats designed to improve coastal security, deter illegal fishing, and protect fishermen. Each boat, equipped with radar, transponders, and rapid response systems, can carry 15 personnel, including marine police, and is powered by dual 250 HP Suzuki engines, achieving speeds of 30 nautical miles.

A total of 15 patrol boats will be deployed, with five already in operation. Additionally, Rane announced plans for the Water Metro project in Mumbai, set to launch by December 2026, which aims to provide an efficient and time-saving transportation solution for residents.
