A rare incident occurred at the Tuas port in Singapore on Sunday when a new quay crane collapsed during delivery. The accident took place around 1:20 PM, but fortunately, the quayside was not operational at the time, resulting in no injuries or fatalities.

The Maritime and Ports Authority (MPA) of Singapore reported that nearby facilities and equipment were unharmed. All operational berths at PSA Singapore remain accessible, and other port operations and development activities were unaffected by the incident.

The collapse is currently under investigation, with PSA and the MPA collaborating with various agencies to address the situation.

Tuas is set to become the largest greenfield port complex globally upon completion, as Singapore plans to transition all container terminal operations there over the next two decades. This shift aims to free up waterfront space for further development in the city center.
